About Teeth Whitening in Madrid
Our clinics in Madrid offer a range of smile makeover solutions, with two of the most popular treatments being:
-
In-office laser teeth whitening
-
Custom-made take-home whitening kits
Laser teeth whitening:
This is the most effective method, with the combined gel and laser treatment able to brighten your teeth by up to 14 shades.
Although different brands, such as ZOOM!®, BriteSmile® and LaserSmile®, may have slightly different methods of application, the general treatment process is similar.
After an initial consultation, your teeth are cleaned and scaled to remove surface stains, plaque and tartar.
Following this, a whitening gel is applied to the teeth. With goggles and a mouthguard to protect the eyes and gums, a specialised laser then is applied to the gel-covered teeth, which activates its bleaching agents.
This may involve two or three separate 15-minute applications, or one longer 30-45-minute application (depending on the brand or system and the desired results).
After all traces of the gel have been rinsed off, the dentist will then be able to show you just how whiter your teeth are, as the results are immediate.
You will have to avoid eating or drinking foods that stain your teeth for the next couple of days, as per the dentist’s advice.
Take-home whitening kits:
This method differs in that the whitening process is carried out at home gradually; while results may not be as dramatic as laser teeth whitening, these DIY kits do allow you to have more control over the degree of whitening, as well as top up the results every 6–12 months, as required.
After an initial consultation with your dentist in Madrid, impressions of your teeth are used to create custom-made trays that fit over your teeth.
Once you’re back home, a prescribed gel is used together with the trays, normally overnight for around two weeks, to whiten the teeth. The kits can be kept, with more prescription whitening gel obtained from a dentist back home if needed.
Do note that overuse of teeth whitening products can damage the teeth and gums.
How Long Will I Need to Stay in Madrid for Teeth Whitening?
Laser teeth whitening typically takes less than one hour. Together with your consultation and teeth cleaning, the appointment may be around two hours in total.
The process for take-home kits may require two appointments (one for impressions to be made and another to collect the trays). Some dentists with in-office laboratories may be able to manufacture the trays on the same day as your first appointment (while you wait).

Madrid Travel Information
The Spanish capital of Madrid is often overlooked by British and European holiday-makers (probably because it’s a landlocked city with no beach) but in fact it offers so much in the way of things to see and do, making this fascinating city ideal for dental tourists seeking a laid-back urban cultural break.
Famous for its museums, like the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen, parks, stunning Almudena Cathedral, classic Spanish restaurants, nightlife and the 80,000-seater Santiago de Bernabeu (home to Real Madrid), visitors also have the option of jumping on a cheap domestic flight south following treatment.
Dental Departures also lists dentists in Malaga, Barcelona, Almeria, Valencia and Alicante, among many other beach destinations.
How Do I Get to Madrid?
While transnational rail services do connect Madrid with the rest of Europe, the fastest (and often least expensive) way to reach Madrid is by air, with flights taking around 2.5 hours from London.
When arriving at Madrid’s international airport, take a taxi or the metro into the city center, which is approximately 15km away.
How Much Do Flights to Madrid Cost?
Flights on Skyscanner can be snapped up for approximately EUR 50 (GBP 45) from airports in Britain. Do note that you will pay slightly more when checking in luggage with certain budget carriers, like EasyJet.
Outside the UK, flights may be a little more expensive, especially when flying with national carriers in Germany or Scandinavia, for instance.
Where to Stay in Madrid?
Most hotels we found on booking.com and Expedia fall into the EUR 50–100. These are mostly modern but basic double rooms (three stars) in and around the city center.
You will also discover a good number of four and five-star hotels in the EUR 100–200 price bracket, as well as varied options on alternative sites like Airbnb.
