The Benefits of Teeth Whitening
● White teeth are associated with youth (as teeth tend to yellow as we age)
● Increased confidence
● It’s one of the most affordable cosmetic dentistry procedures
● It is extremely effective
● It is easy to maintain
Are There any Downsides to Teeth Whitening?
● Don’t Overdo it:
Although teeth whitening is a common procedure, overdoing it can damage your tooth enamel. Always listen to a dental professional and pay attention to any safety tips about teeth whitening products .
● You Will Need to Have Excellent Oral Health Before Treatment:
Teeth whitening can cause permanent damage if you have active gum disease or tooth decay, so you will need a clean bill of dental health.
● Teeth Whitening Treatments Are Not Effective on All Stains:
Teeth whitening treatments only work on external stains. If your teeth are discoloured because of antibiotic staining , teeth whitening treatments will have no effect as these stains are on the inside of the tooth. The only alternative in these circumstances is dental veneers.
● Teeth Whitening is Not a Permanent Solution:
It’s worth remembering that lifestyle habits, such as smoking, will stain your teeth again after whitening. It’s worth remembering that any food and drinks that stain your clothes can also stain your teeth.

Are Teeth Whitening Treatments Suitable for Dental Tourists?
Laser teeth whitening treatments are carried out at the dentist’s office. The treatment is quick—taking a maximum of two hours; it’s painless; has little downtime and gives highly noticeable results immediately.
At-home whitening kits are also effective, although the results are not as dramatic as laser teeth whitening. If you’re after a more subtle effect that you can control yourself at home, this is the treatment for you.
What Is the Procedure for Teeth Whitening? How Long Will it Take?
Laser Teeth Whitening:
The dentist will first prepare you and your mouth for the treatment. You will be asked to put on protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser beam. The dentist will clean your teeth thoroughly to remove stubborn stains and tartar before placing a rubber dam around your teeth to protect the soft tissues in your mouth from the bleaching gel.
Next, the whitening gel is applied to the teeth followed by the application of the laser which activates the lightening agents in the gel. At this point, the process differs depending on what system is being used by your dentist: some systems only require one, 45-minute-long application of the gel, whereas others may use three 15-minute applications of the gel. After the final application, the dentist will clean the teeth thoroughly again to remove all traces and the procedure is complete.
At-Home Whitening Kits:
You will need to visit the dental clinic twice to obtain your at-home whitening kit. At the first visit, the dentist will take impressions of your mouth which are sent to a laboratory for custom-fit trays to be made. These will fit over your teeth and are used to contain the whitening gel.
You can arrange to go back to the dentist to pick the trays up along with your whitening gel. The dentist will usually check that the trays fit your teeth and demonstrate how to use them in conjunction with the gel. Most people tend to wear them overnight, while they sleep, thoroughly cleaning their teeth and the trays the next morning to remove all traces of the gel. This process can be carried out nightly for up to two weeks, or until you have achieved the degree of whiteness you desire.
The good thing about these at-home kits is that you can top up the effects from time to time by obtaining more gel from your dentist at home.
