Dental veneers are a quick and easy cosmetic dentistry procedure used to transform crooked, damaged or stained teeth into an even, white smile. Cancun is the perfect destination to have this procedure carried out, leaving you plenty of time to relax and enjoy its idyllic scenery and your choice of either laid-back or high-adrenaline activities.
The advantages of having dental veneers rather than some other cosmetic dentistry procedures are that a healthy, natural look can be achieved with virtually no discomfort and without removing much of the natural tooth structure. Veneers are durable, color-stable and cost-effective when compared to alternative procedures - and the procedure can be carried out in one trip.
Why Have Dental Veneers in Cancun?
Cancun’s dentists provide high-standards of treatment, using quality brands and materials that dentists in North America use. There are a number of different porcelain veneer brands that your dentist may use - some much more affordable than others - but still offering superior quality.
Cancun is an upmarket resort on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Winning a United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Award in 2007, quality hotels, restaurants, and other tourist facilities are in good supply here and dental facilities are of an excellent standard as well. Dental clinics here are accustomed to working with foreign patients and, as such, they tend to be modern and well-equipped to meet the high expectations of their overseas clientele. They also have established partnerships with luxury resorts as well as budget hotels and can help you find ideal accommodation on your trip here.
At around a third of the cost of comparative treatments in the United States and Canada, dental veneers in Cancun are considerably less expensive, easily allowing you to enjoy your vacation for the price of one veneer at home.
How Long Do Dental Veneer Treatments Take in Cancun?
The types of veneers used affect how long the treatment will take.
Porcelain or ceramic veneers are the most hard-wearing, lasting for 10-15 years. The procedure involves removing a sliver of enamel from your tooth on your first visit to accommodate the veneer. A mold is then taken and sent to the lab where the veneer is custom-made. On your next visit, a mild chemical is applied to the tooth so that the veneer will adhere well to the tooth. The two-visit process is usually carried out in a week.
Composite veneers (bonding) uses a plastic paste (composite resin) which is applied to the teeth and hardened with a special bonding light. Several veneers can usually be carried out in one appointment so the procedure is very quick. Composite veneers are cheaper than porcelain, but only last between 5-10 years.
Some clinics with CAD/CAM in-house ceramic studios may be able to offer you ceramic veneers in a day. However, most clinics will do them in two visits, unless you are having more than five, in which case it may take up to five days.
How Much Can I Save on Dental Veneers in Cancun Compared to the US and Canada?
Prices in the United States for a porcelain veneer typically start at around $1,100. In Cancun, the price is around $380.
