About Root Canal in Benidorm, Spain
Root canal treatment is generally required to save a tooth following infection, with two or three appointments often required over the course of three days to a week (minimum).
During your first appointment in Benidorm, the dentist may seek to carry out x-rays and other digital evaluations in order to ascertain a clearer picture of your condition.
Once the green light is given, a rubber dam will be placed around the infected tooth to protect it from infection and to keep it dry, and you will be administered a local anaesthetic to numb the surrounding area.
With a specialised hand-drill, the dentist, normally a specialist endodontist, will open up the tooth to expose soft tissue (the pulp) and, with infected debris being removed down each root canal.
Note: an infection inside the tooth, will need to be treated before root canal treatment can be done in Spain.
When all the previously infected debris has been removed, the chambers will be thoroughly cleaned before being packed with a filling, which is left in situ for the next couple of days to ensure no infection is present. Next, a permanent filling or crown is used to restore the tooth’s structural integrity.
You may need a crown to strengthen the tooth if the dentist has had to remove a large portion of decay.
On your next visit, if the dentist is satisfied everything is as it should be, the tooth will be permanently filled or the permanent restoration fitted.
How Long Does a Root Canal Take in Spain?
If only a filling or crown is required, the whole course of root canal treatment in Spain may only last between three and five days. However, full treatment may require one or two weeks to complete if you have had an infection and require a post-core and crown.
Upon booking, we’ll communicate with your dentist in Benidorm who will be able to give you a rough idea as to how long you should stay in Spain.

Benidorm Travel Information
Benidorm was once not only just one of Spain’s but the world’s most popular international resorts, with tens of millions of Brits, Scandinavians, Germans and other Europeans flying here every summer for low-cost package holidays.
Today, the region still welcomes millions each year, although with Spain and neighbouring countries now offering more diverse destinations on the cheap, numbers are inevitably down.
However, that’s not to say that Benidorm is lacking in terms of beach activities and family-friendly excursions, with miles of golden sand, warm Mediterranean waters and a decent selection of water and theme parks to keep the kids happy.
Benidorm is synonymous with towering resort complexes, British and Irish-style restaurants, lively bars, nightclubs and year-round warm temperatures that see thousands flock to either Playa del Poniente or Playa de Levante (either side of the old town area) for some sun-worshipping in the daytime.
But do be careful: temperatures at noon during June, July and August can reach 38C (100F), so make sure you pack plenty of SPF 50!
