The procedure is relatively straightforward – you will be given a local anesthetic to numb the area surrounding the affected tooth. The decayed area is drilled out and the area cleaned, filled and shaped. It can take as little as half an hour.

An ‘indirect filling’ will necessitate a crown. So, after removing the decay and cleaning the tooth impressions are made to send to the lab. You may have a temporary crown fitted until the permanent crown is ready. After a few days you will return to the dentist to have it fitted permanently in place.
