About Dentures in Giza, Egypt

When it comes to dentures in Giza, you will probably need to factor in a week’s stay either within the city or neighbouring Cairo, during which time your new dentures will be measured, fabricated and fitted.

The process is much the same, whether you require full dentures (if you have no teeth), or partial dentures (if you still have some teeth left, or just need one or a few replacing).

If you need any teeth removed, or have recently had teeth extracted , you should be aware that your gums will need time to heal afterward.

Dentists typically recommend that you wait at least three to four months before you have your permanent denture fitted. If you do have extractions, a temporary, light-weight denture can be fitted and worn during the “healing phase”... but just remember no hard or sticky foods, and no chewing gum!

Although a temporary measure, many people have worn theirs for years so don’t worry they will be too flimsy and break. If you are getting teeth extracted here, you will need to return to the dentist in Giza for your permanent dentures.

If this is a problem, an easy solution is to have your extractions carried out by a dentist at home (three to four months prior to arriving in Cairo).

At your first appointment with your Cairo dentist, your mouth will be examined, and diagnostic tests may be carried out. After a consultation with your dentist where your options will be discussed with regard to the preferred materials for your dentures (all have their own pros and cons) the dentist will take impressions of your mouth.

These are sent to the laboratory where your dentures are tailor-made, and you will return to see your dentist after a few days once your dentures have been received from the lab.

Types of Dentures Available in Giza

Dentures come in all shapes and sizes, made from different materials, such as full acrylic or acrylic base with porcelain crowns (generally the more expensive option).

Overdentures are also an option: these can be semi-permanent; affixed to mini-implants but still removable as and when needed (or advised).

See below the types of denture (or false prosthetic teeth) offered at our partner dentists across Giza:

Partial dentures with porcelain teeth

  • Implant-supported removable denture, or overdenture

  • Snap-in denture

How Long Will I Need to Stay in Giza for Treatment?

You will generally need to make two visits to the dentist in Giza for measuring up, having your new dentures fitted and, if need be, checking in for a follow-up appointment before you head back home.

Some dentists with in-house fabrication technology will be able to process your dentures in a matter of days, meaning you will only need to make one single, but perhaps slightly longer, trip (or holiday) to Egypt; feel free to ask our Customer Care Team representatives as to how long you should stay in Giza for your new dentures.

The good news is that this will give you plenty of time to see all the major sights in Giza, such as the Great Pyramid complex and other historical sights.

About Giza, Egypt

Giza is best known as home to the Great Pyramid and other pyramid complexes, as well as the Great Sphinx of Giza.

The Great Pyramid is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that survives today and is an awe-inspiring accolade to the achievements of the ancient Egyptians. At night, the pyramids are lit up and you can attend a light show tour with a traditional dinner if you want to make a night of it.

The Giza Citadel is another must-see spot. The Muhammad Ali Mosque is the highlight—its twin minarets are the most prominent feature when approaching from Downtown. Although the Muhammad Ali Mosque is to Giza what the Blue Mosque is to Istanbul, the nearby Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad Mosque is older and has fewer visitors.

The Islamic Giza district is packed with houses, mosques, shops and markets crowding its narrow streets. Take your time and see where your wandering takes you.

Khan el Khalil is Giza’s open-air souk where you can bargain hard for lamps, clothes, vases, antiques and perfumes.

Although you can visit throughout the year, Giza is a popular destination for escaping the cold, dank UK winters—and treating yourself to some sunshine without having to withstand Egypt’s blistering summer temperatures.
