Last fact-checked: 13 July 2021
Combine a holiday in Madrid with affordable dental implant treatment and save a fortune when you book via Dental Departures.
Used to replace missing, damaged or decayed teeth with an adjoining crown or fixed bridge, dental implants are extremely versatile…although rather costly.
However, a trip to the Spanish capital can save you between 50% and 70% when compared to prices you would expect to pay back home. See how much you can save and discover our quality-checked implantology specialists in Madrid with this quick guide.
About Dental Implants in Madrid
Dental implants act as artificial tooth roots onto which a crown or fixed bridge can be attached using a screw and abutment.
The titanium or zirconia post is first embedded into your jawbone at a predetermined position. The procedure can take anywhere between one and four hours (depending on how many implants are used and whether you need extractions at the same time); it is normally carried out under local anesthetic with the option of conscious sedation.
After the procedure is complete, a temporary crown or “healing denture” is normally placed, allowing the implant(s) to fuse with the bone over the following four to six months (a process called osseointegration ).
Once the implants are secure and gums have healed, patients are invited back to Madrid for their final restoration, where the permanent crown or bridge is custom-made and fitted.
To summarise, dental implants are commonly used for:
-
Replacing a single missing tooth with a crown following injury or decay
-
Replacing multiple adjacent teeth with a bridge
-
Replacing a whole arch of teeth for edentulous patients, often those seeking a permanent solution rather than dentures
For more information about full arch dental implant restorations, check out the Dental Departures All-on-4® treatment concept Guide or our All-on-6 Guide.
How Long Will I Need to Stay in Madrid for Dental Implants?
In general, dental implant treatment requires two separate trips to Madrid (as explained above), each around four to six months apart.
For each trip, you will need to plan around three to five days in Spain, although your dentist in Madrid will be able to give you a better idea of how long the treatment will take upon booking.
Some clinics may offer same-day implants, although these may not be suitable for everyone.
