The ultimate guide to All on 6 in Mexico
Last fact-checked: 25 October 2022
Travel to Mexico for All-on-6 treatment, a highly sought-after alternative to dentures, and pay between 50%-70% less than in North America and Europe.
In this guide, we explain what this implant-based full-arch restoration entails–and how you can find quality, more affordable care in destinations like Los Algodones, Tijuana, Mexico City and Cancun when booking through Dental Departures.
Average All-on-6 Prices in Mexico
The cost of an All-on-6 in Mexico is likely to be at least 50% lower than prices for the exact same treatment in the US, with some patients often reporting savings of up to 70% compared to local dentists.
As an already pricey procedure, this discount can equate to savings of more than $15,000 per arch, or $30,000 less for a full mouth restoration (dual arch surgery).
See the table below for average All-on-6 prices in Mexico compared to the US and UK:

Why Do People Choose to Go to Mexico for All-on-6?
If you have multiple missing or failing teeth (typically due to the onset of periodontal disease with age) and want to do something about it, there are two viable options: removable dentures or a more permanent prosthesis held in place with dental implants.
The former is what most in North America settle for due to the lower costs back home, as an All-on-6 can cost as much as $30,000 per jaw with a local dentist.
As a result, the chance to save at least 50% in Mexico has created a huge demand for dental tourism in numerous border towns, cities and coastal resorts across Mexico.
Why Is Dental Care Cheaper in Mexico Compared to the US?
When comparing dental prices in Mexico against those in the US or Europe, several factors allow dentists here to offer services at such low rates:
-
Far more affordable real estate and office rental fees, even in central metropolitan areas across Mexico.
-
The lower price of living compared to the US equates to lower average salaries not only for dentists, but also for lab technicians, hygienists, assistants, and other support staff.
-
Obtaining prerequisite qualifications, such as DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degrees, is significantly less expensive for prospective dentists. According to the American Dental Association, dental education expenses in the US average at $35,000-$70,000 per year, whereas a degree of the same level in Mexico costs $6,000 per year.
-
No insurance requirements: In the US, paying for insurance and liability costs is mandatory whereas Mexico does not enforce such obligatory insurance requirements for patients, as well as clinics and medical centers.
Quality of Dental Care in Mexico: Is it Safe?
While most online articles concerning dental tourism tend to shine a bad light on the phenomenon, what must be considered is that for every “horror story” published by the likes of CNN and Fox, there are more than 1 million success stories every year.
This does not, however, mean that every clinic is up to the mark, which is the main reason Dental Departures carries out a stringent verification process on all aspects of the clinics we work with.
Using the best dentists in America and Europe as a benchmark, we ensure every facility listed on our site follows the highest standards regarding hygiene, sterilization and patient safety. We also perform independent investigations into the professional and educational background of all dentists, ensuring they hold the necessary qualifications, licenses and specialty certificates to carry out particular procedures, such as the All-on-6 implant placement technique.
Dental Technology and Equipment in Mexico
Our best partner Mexico dentists use the same modern dental technology and equipment as their US counterparts, as well as tools, materials, software and guidelines provided by some of the most trusted dental implant companies in the world, including:
- Straumann®
- Nobel Biocare®
- BioHorizons®
- Dentsply Sirona®
- Zimmer Biomet®
- Osstem®
When it comes to the placement of dental implants, no clinic in the world can promise a 100% success rate; global studies have shown that implants have a 90%–95% success rate over a 10- year period, and most clinics in Mexico report similar figures–with the very best ones boasting numbers closer to 98% in terms of implant survival rate.
It is also commonplace for Mexican dentists to offer lifetime warranties on implants, as well as 5 or 10-year guarantees on dental prosthetics, such as crowns and bridges.

What Is an All-on-6? Treatment Information:
Carried out by implantology specialists (who will often have other training in areas like prosthodontists and oral surgery), this technique replaces the top, bottom or both arches with a fixed bridge attached to just six dental implants – hence the name: All-on-6
After your dentist has confirmed you have enough viable bone and cleared any infections, the surgical procedure can take place, which involves:
- Extraction of any remaining teeth
- Insertion of four implants into each jaw
- Attachment of an immediate loading denture using abutments and copings, depending on the type of system used.
The immediate loading denture is only temporary and lightweight, which allows the implants to properly fuse with the jawbone after the surgery.
Note: The course of treatment entails one session of surgery and then a follow-up visit to the same clinic in Mexico around 4-6 months later for the final restoration (fixed bridge) to be attached. While this will increase your travel expenses, it also means two potential holidays to your chosen destination.

What Are the Advantages of All-on-6?
- The implants are secure, meaning there is no need to worry about them slipping or falling out.
- The bridge does not require the application of any adhesives like dentures
- Only one session of surgery is generally required
- Bone grafting is not usually required due to the unique placement of the 6 implants
- They look, feel and act like your own teeth, with function eventually increased to 90%
What Brands and Systems Are Used by Mexican Dentists?
Dentists in Mexico and the rest of the world listed on Dental Departures all use the same systems and reputable brands as the top clinics in the UK, Europe and the US.
Dental companies that provide implant-based fixed-bridge systems include Nobel Biocare (All-on-4® treatment concept) Zimmer Biomet®, BioHorizons® and Osstem®.
Other full-arch restoration methods may use four, five or even eight implants (rather than six), depending on your particular circumstances.
