What Factors Affect All-on-4 Prices in Thailand?

It's important to note that the figures shown are estimates and can vary significantly. Other factors that can affect the cost include:

  • The materials used; for example, titanium vs zirconia implants; or porcelain crowns vs ceramic crowns.

  • Implant brands/systems used: Several well-known systems are available at our partner clinics, including Nobel Biocare® and Straumann®. The choice of implant system may depend on factors such as the patient's specific needs, and the dentist's preference and experience.

  • The number of arches you are looking to restore: dual arch or single (upper and/or lower).

  • Bone grafting may be required before inserting the implant(s). This surgical procedure is performed to restore bone volume and density in the jaw that has previously experienced bone loss.

  • The expertise and reputation of the dentist, as well as the geographical location of the clinic. Typically, you can expect to pay more at a dental clinic located in the center of town or in a touristy area.

What Is an All-on-4?

The term All-on-4 refers to a specialized dental implant technique where a full arch of missing teeth is permanently replaced with a fixed bridge (otherwise known as a ‘full-arch prosthesis’ or ‘hybrid denture’.)

The full arch prosthesis may be for either the upper, lower or both arches; this technique is designed to provide a fully functional set of teeth using just four dental implants per arch. In some cases, six implants may be used (All-on-6), depending on the condition of the jaw bone and overall oral health of the patient.

Why Not Opt for Single Dental Implants?

Traditional dental implants usually require one implant per missing tooth, which can be a costly and time-consuming process for patients who are missing multiple teeth or an entire arch. The All-on-4 technique is a more efficient solution, particularly for patients with significant tooth loss.

Advantages of an All-on-4 technique include fewer surgical procedures, faster treatment time and improved patient satisfaction. It is an increasingly viable option for those wanting to avoid the high cost and complexity associated with placing an implant for each missing tooth–particularly when treatment is sought in popular dental tourism destinations, like Thailand.

Why Choose to Go to Thailand for All-on-4?

Lower Cost:

As outlined above, All-on-4 treatment is considerably cheaper in Thailand when compared to the cost in the UK, Australia and the United States. Even when factoring in two round-trip tickets to complete the treatment, mid-range accommodation and a comfortable spending budget, it’s possible to save more than $10,000 (net) for a full mouth restoration.

World-Class Clinics:

Our partner clinics in Thailand ensure high standards and provide exceptional quality care to international patients.

Equipped with the latest technologies in modern facilities together with highly-experienced dentists, our partner clinics in Thailand offer a level of care comparable to some of the most trusted dentists in the West.

Highly Skilled Dentists:

Most of the top dentists in Thailand are trained to the highest standards and specialists typically receive parts of their training and certifications in Europe, Australia, or the US.

Dental Departures ensures that our listed partner dentists in Thailand have obtained their dental education from an accredited institution and completed all of the required training to perform specialized procedures in the fields of oral surgery, implantology, prosthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry, to name a few.

The best All-on-4 dentists in Thailand are proud members of international organizations, such as the American Dental Association, the International Association of Oral & Maxilo-facial Surgeons, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Advanced Technology:

Computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture (CAD/CAM) utilizes digital technology to assist in the design and fabrication of dental restorations. This allows the dentist to create your prosthesis quickly and precisely - sometimes on the same day in cases where the clinic has a dedicated onsite dental laboratory.

Your dentist can design and customize the restoration in front of your very eyes, first by using an intraoral 3D scanner to take your digital impression; this is then uploaded to the CAD software system for the design and precise customization. Once you and your dentist approve the aesthetics of the prosthesis, a digital milling machine accurately shapes the dental material according to the design. Finally, finishing touches are applied after the fitting process is made.

Advanced digitization is less invasive and allows for faster turnaround times and improved accuracy; overall, this enhances patient experience and satisfaction.

Combine Treatment with a Memorable Holiday

Thailand has countless tourist attractions and a wealth of activities for everyone to enjoy between dental visits. Whether you want to tour the bustling capital of Bangkok, chill on a Phuket beach, or experience a vibrant cultural scene in Chiang Mai, you’ll find top clinics that offer comprehensive All-on-4 treatment around the country.

Convenient and Affordable Destination

Thailand has long been a reputable destination among dental tourists for its outstanding quality of dental care. The capital Bangkok can easily be reached from almost all major cities in the world, with direct flights from 100+ airports across nearly 50 countries. Phuket and Chaing Mai also have an international airport with daily direct flights. Major cities in Thailand provide convenient and efficient public transport systems, and private taxis or car/motorbike rentals are also widely available.

You can stay in a 5-star luxury hotel, a wellness retreat or a budget-friendly guesthouse - whichever you prefer, there’s no shortage of options for every price range.

Why Is Dental Care Cheaper in Thailand?

Put simply, it doesn’t cost as much to operate a business in Thailand due to the lower cost of living when compared to the West. This makes an all-on-4 treatment possible for those who can’t afford expensive treatment back home.

Several factors contributing to the price difference are:

  • The cost of operating a dental clinic including rent, insurance and utilities is much less in Thailand.

  • Staff and dentists' salaries are comparatively lower than in the West.

  • Dental students pay less for their education, but courses and length of study are comparable to the West.

  • Dental prices are aligned to meet local needs as the majority of Thais cannot afford to pay Western prices.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

Our top partner dentists in Thailand usually guarantee their treatment and lab work, with 5-year, 10-year, and depending on how well you take care of your teeth, even lifetime warranties.

We advise you to acquire travel insurance before taking a trip abroad for unforeseen medical expenses. Dental Departures can help with travel insurance designed for medical tourists, giving you greater peace of mind.

What Are “All-on-X” Implants?

All-on-X implants are a type of smile restoration system where dental implants are used to replace missing teeth in one or both arches of the mouth. The procedure involves placing a few dental implants into the jawbone and then attaching the implants to a row of permanently fixed bridges or dentures.

The number of implants used can be anything from four to eight per row, depending on the patient’s requirement.

What Are the Advantages of All-on-4 Implants?

The All-on-4 dental implant technique offers several advantages over traditional dentures or individual dental implants:

  • Restore oral function: With All-on-4, patients can enjoy eating foods that they can’t normally eat thanks to improved biting and chewing capabilities compared to traditional dentures. The fixed bridge is securely attached to the implants, allowing for better bite force distribution during eating.

  • Improved aesthetics: All-on-4 restorations are designed to look and feel like natural teeth. For replacing one arch, the fixed bridge or denture is customized to match the shape, color, and size of the patient's remaining teeth, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing smile.

  • Preservation of jawbone: The implants used in the All-on-4 technique stimulate the jawbone by acting as a tooth root to help prevent bone loss and preserve facial structure. This can be especially beneficial for patients who have experienced significant bone resorption due to tooth loss or long-term denture use.

All-on-4® Implant Procedure: Step by Step

Undergoing All-on-4 treatment abroad usually requires two separate trips – each about four months apart.

The process of osseointegration is vital, which is a process of fusing the implant with the jawbone before a permanently fixed prosthesis can be loaded. However, a temporary hybrid denture can be worn immediately after inserting the implants, meaning patients won’t have to experience a ‘toothless’ look during this important healing period.

First Trip:

1. Consultation: The patient first attends a pre-surgical appointment with a dentist specializing in implant surgery. The dentist will evaluate your oral health and take several tests to determine your suitability for the All-on-4 treatment.

2. Process a custom-made hybrid denture: If you are deemed eligible for the All-on-4 treatment, impressions of the mouth will then be taken to process an immediate hybrid denture, which will be attached during the surgical phase as a temporary prosthesis.

3. Surgery: Prior to the implant surgery, any remaining natural teeth in the jaw where the All-on-4 treatment will be performed are extracted. The next step involves the surgical placement of four or more dental implants into the jawbone.

The implants are strategically placed to maximize stability and support for the final prosthesis. To complete the surgical phase, an immediate denture is then attached to the implants through abutments and screws.

Healing Phase:

After the implant placement, a healing period of three to four months is usually required for the implants to fuse with the jawbone. This integration ensures a strong foundation for the final prosthesis.

During this phase, the patient is advised to follow a soft food diet and a cleaning regimen instructed by the dentist.

Second Trip:

Final restoration: After about four to six months, the patient returns to the clinic to have the temporary arch of teeth removed and replaced with a permanent, durable prosthesis.

Following further impressions of the mouth, the final prosthesis can be attached to replace the temporary bridge – providing the patient with a full set of functional and aesthetically pleasing teeth. (Note: The temporary bridge is screw-retained and can be easily removed as part of a minimally invasive procedure).

The dentist may make final adjustments to ensure proper fit and comfort.

  • Straumann: known for its high-quality implants that offer a wide range of options, including the SLActive surface technology, which promotes faster healing and bone integration.

Alternative Smile Restoration Options in Thailand

The suitability of these treatments can vary from person to person, depending on factors such as the condition of the jawbone, treatment goals and overall oral health.

  • 3-on-6 Dental Implants: Similar to All-on-4, a 3-on-6 treatment is another permanent solution consisting of six implants holding three separate bridges per jaw (instead of one full fixed dental bridge). The 3-on-6 bridges are made without artificial gums.

  • Snap-on Dentures: Also known as implant-supported overdenture – a removable denture that is secured in place by snapping onto the dental implants. Snap-on dentures can be removed to clean daily and soaked overnight while you sleep. This is almost always a cheaper alternative to All-on-4 treatment.

  • Traditional dentures: These are removable dental prosthetics used to replace missing teeth. They can be used to replace a full arch of missing teeth or partially replace one or a few teeth. They typically require daily cleaning and soaking overnight.

  • Partial bridge on implants: Unlike a traditional bridge, implants are used to provide support, meaning there is no need to reduce the adjacent teeth. The solution is best suited for those who still have most teeth remaining and are missing just a few teeth in a row; the treatment usually involves, for example, two implants supporting a three-teeth bridge.
