All on 4 in Hungary

The ultimate guide to All on 4 in Hungary

Last fact-checked: 29 January 2021

If you’re searching for a permanent solution to replace all your teeth without breaking the bank, consider booking in at one of our specialists in the All-on-4® treatment concept in Hungary

Provided by Nobel Biocare®, this mouth restoration technique uses just four dental implants to hold a full arch of replacement teeth, and can be performed in both jaws in just one session of surgery.

While dentures may be the only option on the NHS, those in the UK and other European countries can save around £10,000 by visiting Hungary as a dental tourist.

What Is the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

This mouth rehabilitation technique was perfected by Lisbon implantologist Dr. Paulo Malo in the 1980s. Since then, this specialist technique has been taught to dentists from all across the world and, while it is a specialist procedure, it is fairly routine for those who are skilled in its application, with over 150,000 patients having been successfully treated

Essentially, treatment involves four dental implants being strategically placed into the jaw bone, with a complete arch of false teeth (affixed to a specialized prosthesis) attached to them.

The two posterior implants are positioned at 45-degree angles, rather than the traditional 90-degrees. Plus, these implants are longer, which means they connect with more of the jaw bone. Thus, they may even be suitable for some patients who have bone loss, without them having to undergo a bone graft or sinus lift procedure.

Furthermore, a fixed, temporary bridge can be attached to the implants immediately after they have been placed, which is why the procedure is sometimes referred to as "same-day smile/teeth" (although it should be noted that extensive planning is involved beforehand).

What Are Some of the Benefits of the All-on-4® Treatment Concept?

  • If you’re a denture wearer, there’s no more worrying about loose or slipping dentures and no more messy adhesives.
  • The procedure may be suitable for some patients with bone loss without them having to undergo a separate bone graft.
  • The surgical procedure can be completed in one day – teeth extractions, implants inserted and bridge attached.
  • Little in the way of downtime
  • The final restoration restores the teeth's function to 90%, allowing patients to eat practically anything they want.

What are the All-on-4® Treatment Concept Prices in Hungary?

The cost of this treatment in London is likely to be around £10,000 more than in Hungary – that is some saving!

Why Should I Consider Hungary for Dental Care?

Savings:

Here's the obvious one. Even paying for flights and top-quality accommodation for a week, or even two, will still leave you with thousands more in your pocket than if you’d got the treatment at home.

Expertise:

Our partner dentists in Hungary are highly-skilled and are well-trained. They offer excellent services to dental tourists – and you’ll have no language problems as all our dentists speak English.

Easily Accessible:

There are plenty of low-cost airlines operating out of the UK and Ireland that fly regularly to Hungary; in fact, you can book return flights to Budapest for less than £70, depending on the time of year.

There are also direct flights available from most major airports in the UK and across the rest of Europe.

Contemporary Facilities:

Dental clinics deliver high-quality treatments in state-of-the-art facilities. Panoramic x-rays, 3D/CT scanning and CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacture) are some of the diagnostic and therapeutic technologies used to provide accurate diagnoses, planning and treatment outcomes.

Chance for an Exciting City Break!

Hungary is booming as a tourist destination. It’s capital city, Budapest, has been likened to Paris. Stunning architecture, huge, open-air thermal baths, the River Danube and a bar and restaurant scene to rival any capital city. Plus, it is a whole lot less expensive than cities in Western Europe.

Despite being relatively small, Hungary has numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the largest lake in Central Europe in Lake Balaton, the largest synagogue in Europe and the largest medicinal bath in Europe. It has fine examples of Baroque, Neo-classical, Medieval and Roman architecture, a stable political climate and is generally a safe country.

Its thermal baths are major attractions, as are its amazing cities, but it also has incredible countryside and is a popular destination for bird watching at Kiskunsag and Hortobagy National Parks, as well as for horse-riding.

There should be plenty of time to explore cities during your trip, especially those days in-between appointments. However, following your surgery, you should take things easy before flying home, as your mouth will likely be sore.

What Does the All-on-4® Treatment Concept Entail?

The treatment entails several stages.

1: Initial Consultation & Assessment

Your dentist will conduct a thorough examination and arrange for scans and x-rays of your mouth and jaw to assess your jawbone for any bone loss. Even though this procedure is more suitable for patients with some bone loss, there still has to be enough bone in the jaw into which the implants are inserted.

After that, if you decide to go ahead with the procedure, impressions are made of your mouth and sent to the lab where your new temporary teeth will be made.

Note: A preliminary assessment regarding your suitability can be made by sending up-to-date digital x-rays to the dentist in Hungary via our Customer Care Team (before you fly).

2: Treatment Day

You will be given local anaesthetic usually with conscious sedation prior to the treatment commencing.

Any teeth that need to be removed will be extracted first. Then the gums will be opened at the point that the implants are being placed and holes will be drilled into the jaw. The implants are then placed at predetermined positions. Using specialized abutments, the immediate loading denture can then be attached and trimmed down for comfort, thus completing the surgery.

Note: After surgery, the implants will take around three to four months to fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration), while the gums and fixed prosthesis should also be protected. Thus, patients are advised to follow a diet of semi-solid/soft food during this time.

3: Permanent Restoration

After approximately six months, you will need to return to Hungary to complete the treatment.

Further impressions and evaluations are carried out before the permanent (final) fixed bridge is screwed onto the implants in place of the temporary one.
